Meet the lovely Eric and Mary. They booked a mini session with me this summer and have created something to last them a lifetime.
I have had the privilege of photographing their daughter Shanin’s family and will also be adding in their son Ryan’s wedding next summer. I really appreciate being able to work with people enough to really get to know them, I think their photos turn out so much better because they reflect who they are on a deeper level.
I tried my hardest to capture that with Eric and Mary. Eric is actually Mr. Buhr in my head because he was my 7th grade Civics teacher. It had been so long since I had seen him. He was as calm and friendly in July as he was back in, whatever year that was – probably early 90’s I suppose.
And Mary and I really felt a connection. She is so sweet and cares so much for the people in her life. Their children and grandchildren are sure blessed!
I was sad to learn that Eric has a brain tumor. But even in the sorrow there was joy. Eric was doing very well and Mary is so in love with him. I loved hearing their stories, including how they met and how long they have been together. It really is a beautiful love story!
I will be meeting with the Buhr family again in about a week as we get them together for what will likely be their last portraits all together. Eric will be in hospice soon. It is tempting to be very sad about all of this but after speaking with Mary yesterday, the Buhr’s are finding their time with Eric to be a blessing and a joy and I would love to have this be a time for celebration for them. I look forward to working again with them soon.
